Description

If you are using or planning to use Microservice Architecture, you don't want to miss this, as you need API Gateway to orchestrate your individual services.

In this event, the speaker Greg will share several lessons learnt from operating Kong, an open-source API gateway system, on Kubernetes, an open-source container management platform.

Details

While microservices provide fine-grained functions and lightweight protocols to compose a comprehensive application system, how to manage different APIs from different microservices and provide an unified interface for better resource accessing and reducing cost of bridging different APIs become more essential. Moreover, for such centralising role, the gateway itself should be as much robust and scalabe as possible.

To meet these requirements, we choose Mashape's Kong as solution, which is based on the Nginx web server and OpenResty framework. We have found this solution on Kubernetes platform provides most features we need, including performance, scability, and the power to customise the gateway system. However, we also learnt some lessons from obstacles to achieving our goal.
