Lightning Talk 1: Apply App Modernization swiftly: an introduction to swift method by Guixin

When tasked with modernizing the legacy apps within your organization, swift method provides and an efficient and reliable process to kick start the modernization process for your team. the talk cover the 3 main steps of swift process: event storming, boris and snape. it use a simple sample flow to show how it is done and what swift method is trying to achieve. in the end, it also covered the the swift method based service provided by VMware Tanzu labs, app navigator, that help clients deconstructing monolith applications and move to the cloud native architecture.

Lightning Talk 2: How to build a right team for your app modernization? by Saho

Application modernization projects, and IT projects in general, often encounter a multitude of different problems depending on the size, history, processes and culture of the organization. On the other hand, teams that complete these projects successfully all have something in common, regardless of the organization they operate in. In this talk we will take a look beyond the pure technical aspects to understand what, in our experience on all projects at VMware labs, makes or breaks a successful modernization project - with a special focus on the people that actually get them done.

Saho has 10+ years of engineering experience in the IT industry and is currently working as a PM helping Pivotal customers on their application modernization projects. Her super-power is solving problems with a deep understanding of both the technology aspects and the business and organizational side of things.

Guixin Zhu: Senior Solution Architect @ VMware Pivotal Labs

Guixin has been the application developer and support for almost 20 years now. prior to current position as solution architect at VMware Tanzu labs, he had been working for Investment Banks and online banking company for about 10 years, covering every stages of the whole SDLC processes.
